Dear Transfiguration Congregation,
One of the things I love most about our Transfiguration family is the way we come together. It is in the sharing, the helping hands offered without being asked, the conversations that build friendships, and the many quiet ways we care for one another. These moments remind me that the Church is so much more than a building. It is a community of people brought together by faith, love, and a desire to make a difference.
There is an old saying that “it takes a village to raise a child”. I believe it also takes a village to build a strong, caring, and vibrant church. No one person can do everything, but each of us can do something. And when we bring those individual gifts together, wonderful things happen.
As we begin our annual stewardship season, I invite you to think about what being part of our Transfiguration village means to you. Perhaps you have a few hours each month to lend a hand. Maybe you could help with a small task around the church, welcome someone on Sunday morning, assist with an event, share a particular skill, or simply be there for someone who needs a friendly face. Never underestimate the value of these seemingly small acts. Two hours a month, a helping hand here and there, or a willingness to step forward when needed can make a real difference.
Of course, stewardship also includes the financial resources that help sustain our church, support our ministries, care for our building, and extend our love into the wider community. If you feel comfortable making a financial commitment, please know how deeply grateful our church and fellow parishioners are for your generosity. Every gift, whatever its size, helps us continue the work we are called to do together.
But stewardship is about more than time, talent, or treasure. It is also about sharing our stories. Each of us has traveled a different path of faith, with experiences that have shaped who we are and how we see the world. When we share those stories, we discover how much we have in common, learn from one another, and strengthen the bonds that make our church family special.
Starting on November 1, you will receive a packet from our Stewardship Chair, Mary Hovden, inviting you to prayerfully consider how you might contribute to the life of Transfiguration in the year ahead.
As you reflect, please remember this: You do not have to do everything. You simply have to find the way you can be part of something bigger than yourself. Whether that means sharing a little of your time, offering a talent, helping with a small task, making a financial gift, or reaching out to a fellow parishioner, it all matters.
I am grateful to serve alongside you, and I am thankful for the many ways you already make Transfiguration a place of welcome, hope, and love. Together, we are building something meaningful—not because any one of us can do it alone, but because each of us has a part to play.
May we continue to care for one another, welcome those who join us, and share the gifts we have been given. That is how our village grows stronger, our faith grows deeper, and the Spirit continues to move among us. Especially as we are transitioning for our future Vicar.
With gratitude and blessings,
Wayne Smith
Senior Warden and Member of the Village
