A Special Stewardship Message from Mary Hovden

Dear Transfiguration Family:

As the lead for this year’s Tell Out My Soul stewardship campaign, I’ve been thinking about stewardship at Transfiguration for several months now. Organizing and managing the campaign is one of my gifts to Transfiguration, and since I really enjoy project management, it’s a time and talent gift that brings me joy. My husband and I also enjoy giving to Transfiguration financially because there are always needs; care for our buildings and grounds, pay salaries for our clergy and staff, contribute to congregations in our Diocese that need our help, pay our utilities, etc. The list goes on and on!

But in preparation for this message, I have loved observing the gifts of time, talent and treasure that are given every day at Transfiguration. Sometimes these gifts are noticed and called out in the bulletin, newsletter or announcements. But quite often, these gifts of all sizes are given anonymously or with little fanfare, because giving to Transfiguration fills all our hearts with joy! Gifts such as taking communion to parishioners who are homebound, cleaning up the kitchen and Fellowship Hall after an event, contributing to special building & grounds beautification projects, knitting and crocheting gorgeous prayer shawls, making soup for those that can use a delicious meal, singing in the choir and/or playing the piano, streaming our worship services, creating our website, serving on the Vestry and leadership team, stewarding our finances, donating toward our weekly coffee hours, leading our men’s, women’s and prayer groups, taking care of our altar, providing flowers at each service, serving on Sundays, contributing food, toiletries, toys and school supplies for our many outreach ministries, leading book studies, praying for those that need our prayers, etc. Truly an abundance of gifts!

I am so humbled by what I see and experience at Transfiguration and so grateful to all of you for your gifts to Transfiguration – your time, talent and treasure!! Thank you!

Blessings,

Mary Hovden
